Remember my ice cream loving Naomi?
The one that created cheese ice cream?
Well, she's come out with a new flavor
Remember when I got her some beautiful ice cream art for her birthday last year, custom made by Diane Duda?
(to remind you...)
...When I visited her blog and saw this-
And absolutely loved it and had to get it for Naomi because she believes she is THE Ice Cream Queen.
Minus the hair though, right?
So I emailed the artist and asked and she came up with this!
It goes without saying, Naomi loved it, it was by far her favorite birthday gift.
So imagine my delight to see this charming piece-
And guess what?! I can get this on a t-shirt!
When I saw She Believed In Triple Scoops, I commented on Diane's blog and said, "I must get that for my daughter on a t-shirt" (or something like that) and she added it to her t-shirts. Along with so many other cute things. You should check out her Zazzle shop!
(just click on the word t-shirts above)
I've also ordered it as a little print to frame too, from her etsy shop.
So expect to see Naomi fashioning her new shirt in October. I can't wait to give it to her. She will love it.
I just had to share not just great art, but an awesome artist, who has been so wonderful to work with.
Start the soft sappy music please.....
He was a "perty baby", as his mom words it.
And she'd still be pregnant with him to this day if they didn't induce, she says.
(I don't think about that one too long... the visual?? But it is funny when she says it)
His parents took him to Dairy Queen as a wittle babe, which explains his facination with all things
a la' mode.
(are you catching the phone booth in the picture? And the cool car?)
He's the oldest... the big bro... the bubba.
And he took the cutest kindergarten picture of anyone I've seen.
(his dad carried this picture in his wallet even after Gary was grown)
Outdoorsmen.
Sharp shooter military guy
HOT in a uniform!!! Boy Howdy!!!
Thrill seeker
Let's make that clear.... seriously, for real...
Jumping out of airplanes 10 times thrill seeker.
Wonderful husband.
(little did he know that jumping out of planes was easy in comparison to this)
Family man.
Poet.
My Birthday Man!!!
hApPy BiRtHdAy GaRy!!!!
I love you, old geazer!
Today is school picture day at the elementary school. Yaaay.
No school uniforms. Bigger Yaaaay.
Kids don't want mom to pick out their clothes. Booooooooooooooo.
Kids want to choose their own hair style. Double Booooooo.
I have to let them be free to choose or else I would be as bad as the school. Boooo.
At least I'm not being hypocritical. Yaaaay.
So we practiced their smiles this morning.
Here is what they plan to have their pictures look like.
and...
Yaaaaay.
Saturday, with dirty muddy girls running in and out of the house, I kept hearing the words 'fishin' and one calling to the other 'let's go catch more fish'.
So I checked it out.
Maybe there was also a little 'it's my turn to catch fish, "neighbor friend"' and then a little 'it's my net' and then a little 'it's our "mountain stream"'.
Can you spy with your little eye....
2 crawdads, 5 minnows, icky water, lotsa moss, 1 leaf....
Then the 'fishing pier' becomes a balance beam
In case you all are having Olympic withdrawals like I am.... even before the closing ceremony.
My favorite event- Gymnastics.
Fay.
The Tropical Storm Fay.
The Tropical Storm Fay that is driving alligators and snakes into suburbia Florida. The Tropical Storm Fay that is causing flooding, as much as 5 feet in some areas!
The Tropical Storm Fay who brought me cooler temps yesterday, beautiful rain and glorious wind. Oh, how I love the wind. Of course it's all fun and games until a tree gets blown onto my home, that would stink. I still love the wind, as long as it's not doing that.
Tropical Storm Fay also let's me pretend it's time to bring out the cold weather dinners. I don't get enough soups and stews living in Georgia so I have to take rainy day opportunities.
So yesterday, even though it was 80 degrees, I made chili.
I mostly make my own chili recipe...
...but yesterday we went with Bear Creek.
I remember when Bear Creek was just a small company getting started in Utah, going to boutique fairs back in the day when it was all about eating low fat, and they offered it in the way of the most flavorful and filling Potato Soup. It offered the simplicity of 'just add water'. I was hooked at my first sample in a tiny cup.
Now Bear Creek can be found all over the US in the local grocery store. Even in Georgia.
Good thing that. Good thing for me.
Nolan & Rae
Rae & Nolan
They are a comical brother/sister combo. And a sharing and caring duo.
They like to share seats
Sometimes they share the exact same spot.
They share hair help
They love movie making.
(as seen before)
(Nolan- making and acting. Rae- just acting)
They aren't so great though, at sharing food. Sometimes they resort to sneaking the food with a "Look! A pink power ranger!"
Although there was a day when if Rae had a sucker....
and Nolan didn't....
Rae would share.
I'm so glad I caught this on film.
I don't know why they don't do that anymore.
I really need to talk to them about sharing suckers like they used to.
:-D
Oh boy.
I am shaking in my boots here, worried about who this post might offend. I am a nervous wreck, but I'm gonna jump on in anyways... But if the words seem a little shaky it's because my hands were doing just that as I typed them.
..........Deep breath...........
.....................
.
.
Okay. I just read the. stupidest. book. ever.
Supposedly it's a very popular book. They even made a movie from the book.
I read the whole thing and as I was reading it I kept whining about how dumb it was and Gary would say, "So stop reading it!" And I would come back with, "I paid 8 bucks for this book! I'm reading the thing!"
So what book, right?
Okay, here goes.... here is the book.
This book is suppose to be hilarious!
People will probably think less of me for thinking it wasn't hilarious. Sure, there was a spot here and there, but over all, the parts that so many people loved, not so much for me.
Here is the thing, I ...... well, I..... I don't like British humour.
I LOVE British people!!
It's just the humour.... Monty Python? I don't get it... Four Weddings and a Funeral? Nope, didn't do it for me.
My mother-in-law, however, loves Keeping up Apperances. She always says, "They must go to school for years to learn to talk that way."
Here are some British people I love..
(at least, the people I think are British, because who and where British people come from confuse me)
Do you have to be in the UK to be British? Or the British Islands? Or Isles?
See, I don't know. So now I am probably being all the more offensive.
So, here are the people I LOOOVE who (I think) are British.
I think she's funny. When she had Twitch on SYTYCD take his grills out of his mouth and put them in hers- that was funny!
I used to have a mad crush on Tim Roth. (come back Tim, come back!)
And Seal. (you should come back too)
We have all heard the story about me and my Mary Poppins.
Plus my beautiful bird banner was created by someone from the UK because she loves me. (see her here)
See, it's not about the people, I love the people, it's about the humor.
I wonder if any British people don't find humor in what is called 'British humour' either??
That's some food for thought, eh?
I get humor, just not that humor. The book was just a bunch of jumbled words that made no sense to me.
Which reminded me... of a time, on my family's website, when we created something quite similar.
So IF you are someone who enjoyed the above book, you might like this bit of nonsense.
And to my family, I can't believe this was written SIX YEARS ago!!
And so because it was written 6 years ago, I must point out, that I was only 32 then, and really with my maturity issues, it's like I was 30. So please don't think less of me when you read it.
So here, I present to you all a very tiny snippet of a conversation on my personal family's web site titled So Today.
(and if you like this, you might like The Hitchhikers book. Might.)

I feel the need to apologize.
If you are offended that I didn't like the book
or
that I don't know who is British and who isn't
or
that I don't get British humor
or
that I compared it to the nonsensical stuff on my family site
or
because you are my family and you never wanted that stuff shared
or
because you are not family and you never wanted that stuff shared...
I'm sorry.
Lately Naomi and Zoe are all about getting ready for school in record time, so they can get some scootin' in before school.
I am all about it because I don't have to beg, plead, cry, threaten them to hurry so they won't be late.
Zoe requested I do her hair like this. Rae used to do it for her, they call it pig-ears. I don't know if they made that up or it's a well known hair term. Does anyone know?
When she got home from school she said, "Lots of people said my hair looked good..." then she started adding up all the people that said they liked it....
"Mom, 7 people said they liked my hair, including me."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Zoe was in charge of Family Home Evening last night. Her idea was to sit around the family room eating dessert and talking. Eating in the family room with permission is a big deal. Nolan said we should go around the room saying nice things about each other.
It's funny how hard they seem to think it is, to give a true compliment.
"Wes, you have a very nice cell phone."
"Rae, you are really good at straightening people's hair."
"Nolan, you wear glasses like noone else in this family."
"Mom, you did a good job picking out my cell phone."
"Mom, you did a good job slicing this store bought pie."
Nobody really said the last one, but that was about how the compliments went. And we did have store bought pie.
Sunday in Sacrament Meeting there was a talk on pride.
Zoe whispered excitedly in my ear, "Mom!! I know that word. That was one of my spelling words! Pride! p-r-i-d-e, pride."
