The young Wright girls.
Today is a 'clean the house real good and we'll go to the movies tomorrow' day.
So, the girls (who apparently want this more than the boys..... just sayin') are bustin' a move in the family room. As in- Rae is making up and teaching the girls a cheer about cleaning so they can play tomorrow.
(May I pose this question to my younger sisters- Who, pray tell, would go about teaching their younger sisters cheers, or let's say dances? Psht. Silliness)
Just as I was biting my tongue about the time being spent on cheering about cleaning and not ON cleaning I heard Rae say-
"Okay, we need to stop cheering about it and do it. Let's go clean girls!"
Thank you Rae.
And then this happened....
I was cleaning my things and the girls were cleaning theirs and Zoe was helping me and Rae said to Zoe-
"I thought you were going to help me? "
Zoe said, "I'm helping Mom right now."
Rae said, "You must love her more than me."
Zoe replied, "I love you both 100%"
Rae said, "Can I be 101%"
And Zoe came back with, "Sure! But then Mom is 102%"
Yesterday, after the kids did much begging and pleading and deal making and promise making with their Dad, we ended up with Jeffrey.
Zoe repeated this to her dad often, in the most excited tone, "Dada (she does call him that) ....He's really good at getting tangles out of my hair. He puts his claws in my hair and pulls it down and it gets my tangles out!"
I bet that was what sealed the deal. Since helping her with her tangles is the #1 reason Gary hates when I am gone at night.

Last night turned out to be a night for trying new recipes from other people's blogs.
As a side dish with our dinner, we had Crash Hot Potatoes from Pioneer Woman Cooks blog- that recipe is a keeper!
And for dessert we had Aunt Vivian's Carrot Cake from the blog Creating Post It Notes , also very delish!
It's been a good first week of summer break.
I'll be honest, sometimes that first week is quite rocky. Usually the kids can't figure out what to do with themselves and I threaten to drop them off at school... I don't care if anyone is there.
But not this time. This time they've done quite well entertaining themselves.
Yeah... it's really been a good week.
We are still going strong with Badminton without a net. Except Naomi read in one of her American Girl books that it was once called Battledore and Shuttlecock , so that is what we are calling it now. And that helps Zoe's confusion in calling the birdie a butterfly.
(I knew about the shuttlecocks, not the rest though)
The book reads-
"Felicity might have said this rhyme as she played. Say a line with each swing, and keep repeating it until the shuttlecock falls.
One, two three, four,
Mary at the cottage door,
Eating cherries off a plate,
Five, six, seven, eight."
Speaking of Battledore and Shuttlecock- We've been doing some serious battling.
(with deep voice)
The Battle of Battledore and Shuttlecock- Rae versus Mom. The Battle of Battledore and Shuttlecock- Nolan versus Rae.
And so on and so on.
And today as the Battle of Battledore and Shuttlecock- Rae and Mom versus Wesley... he texted while he played and still beat us.
Hmpf!
And today the sprinklers came on-
(need...... new...... camera)
They called this 'dunking'.
And once they started 'dunking', Rae wanted a part of that action.
And then without being told-
Naomi stayed outside to dry off in the sun.
But not Zoe-
~~~~~~~
We've also played a lot of card games.
Mostly Old Maid (and Zoe is HILARIOUS when she has the Old Maid), Go Fish, Phase 10 and War.
And today Nolan taught me Bologna Sandwich, which actually the real title has a bad word, but this is what is used instead. That is a real fun one.
The wasps have been out today, like bad. Real bad. And while Nolan, Rae and I played the Bologna Sandwhich game in the dining room with the big windows to watch the girls playing in the sprinklers - I saw Naomi get the can of wasp spray and she was attempting to spray the heck out of a wasp. It quickly ran out of spray and I watched her throw the can at the wasp.
So funny.
What wasn't funny was the it was on my new basil plant.
Yesterday my boys left to spend some time with their Aunt Elayna. My kids know a good time is to come when they get to go play with her.
The girls and I played what Zoe called tennis. But it was really badminton without a net. She also called the birdie a butterfly.
Then we had watermelon.
While you are here, can anyone tell me what to do about a tired, wore-out, forgetful tooth fairy who seems to of retired before her time?
May Day 2008
Today was awesome!
(Well that is after the faculty members at school's grandchildren, nieces and nephews, or their children walked down the court holding crowns and flowers and whatever in fancy clothes.... And once they were done crowning a maid of honor, the two ladies-in-waiting (due to a tie) and the Princess. Some wearing make up.... "From the house of {insert teachers name} *sigh*)
(kids playing dress up = cute. adults playing dress up on children = not cute)
But finally, children are children!
Zoe-
And dancing to The Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride from the Lilo & Stitch soundtrack
And to enjoy this short video, tip your head the the left and sing to The Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride- because my camera is lame and this was the best I could do.
And again-
And Naomi-
With her teacher-
Getting a picture or video of her dance was impossible. She was smack dab in the middle of the field.
They danced to some Elvis and if you look at the tall dark handsome fella' (a teacher) that's almost in the middle, well for one, he can dance, for two, it was hilarious, which is why the camera was shaking, I was laughing, and for three, to the very right of him, in a beige color, you have Naomi. I am so sad you can't see it, but that girls can DANCE.
